PROGRAM INFORMATION

The Civilitas Foundation encourages the responsibility of every citizen to contribute to the realization of a functioning and prosperous democracy, and promotes the right of every individual to benefit from his/her full potential. The Foundation engages, supports Democracy and Development, giving context to participatory efforts, and facilitates and maximizes work already underway for deep democratization and just and sustainable development.

Knowledgeable, passionate, energetic college students are welcome to apply for internships within the Civilitas Foundation. Knowledge of languages is very useful, as is a patient and flexible disposition. Interns may express a preference for a specific type of task, but the final assignment rests with the Foundation’s senior staff.

Internships (lasting a minimum of 12 weeks) are available to select college students throughout the year, and to all applicants living in Armenia and/or abroad. Applications can be downloaded (pdf), or printed, completed and returned, together with a personal statement and two letters of recommendation. All applicants will receive a response within 2 weeks of submitting.

Duties of the internship will vary depending on the needs of the Foundation, assigned tasks, and the capacity and interest of the potential intern.

Work hours are generally from 10:00 am until 6 pm, with a break for lunch. If there are specific projects, conferences, or deadlines, interns are expected to stay and help meet deadlines. On the other hand, part of the reason for doing this internship is to live and experience Armenia, and the Civilitas Foundation is prepared to be flexible to accommodate an intern’s needs.

Sometimes, but not always. It depends on the task assigned, and the time of year.

Other Questions:

WHERE DO I GET AN ARMENIAN VISA?

Everyone, except citizens of the Republic of Armenia, require a visa to enter Armenia.

Visas are available at the airport, upon arrival, at a cost of $40 (USD), for a 120 day SINGLE-entry period – Visa extensions ARE REQUIRED for stays longer than 120 days.

Alternatively, Armenian embassies and consulates around the world provide visas. Finally, a visa application can be filed on-line (www.armeniaforeignministry.com), and a visa can be issued electronically within 48 hours. In all cases, once an intern arrives in Armenia, the visa period (normally 120 days) will need to be extended.
