The Civilitas Foundation supports sustainable, comprehensive and even development in Armenia’s villages, enabling villagers to live a self-reliant, dignified life in Armenia’s border areas. The focus is on Armenia’s dairy industry which produces 1/3 of the country’s domestic needs. To foster expansion in the sector and for each individual dairy farmer, Civilitas offers micro-finance based cows and milking machines to farmers. Payoff has been 100 percent and many farmers have returned for additional cows or machines. The Armenian Church Diocese of Tehran, Armen and Nadiya Ekserciyans of Argentina, Bayhan of Turkey, and the Swiss Development Corporation have supported this project.
